Sjoukje Kay, the author, 
grew up in Redlands, California, watching her father stand on his head. Thus began her love of yoga. In 2001 she trained to become a yoga teacher.  She has trained with many fine teachers but it is to her first yoga teacher, her father, that she dedicates this book.

She writes poetry under her birth name, S. K. (Sharon Kay) Lindeman. She uses Sjoukje for her pen name for this story in honor of her grandmother, Sjoukje (Susan), who she was named after.
